To run the product: generate your weekly plans, maintain your pantry and shopping lists, and send the notifications you asked for. That's it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
A household owner can invite other people to use the same kitchen. Accepting an invitation lets every household login view and edit the shared household name, schedule, dietary rules, pantry, plans, shopping lists, ratings, recipe notes, and saved recipes. Each person keeps a separate email address, password, sessions, verification status, and notification destinations. The household owner controls billing and can remove member logins. Only invite people you trust with the shared kitchen data.
If you opt in to text alerts, we collect your mobile phone number and the date and time of your consent, and we use them for exactly one thing: sending the OurKitchen meal-plan alerts you signed up for.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Messaging program disclosures: OurKitchen meal-plan alerts are recurring automated text messages sent when your weekly plan is ready. Message frequency varies β typically 1β2 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Reply STOP to cancel at any time or HELP for help; you can also remove your number on your Account page. Opt-in happens only through an express-consent checkbox on our website β never pre-checked, and never as a result of a purchase. Full program details: Text Message Program.
To generate plans and macro estimates, the relevant context β your dietary rules, household size, recent meals, ratings, pantry staples, notes, and (when you use the AI draft in My Meals) the recipe name and ingredients you type β is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. Per Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models. Your email, password, phone number, and billing details are never included in AI requests.
Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Your data is kept while the relevant login or household exists. A household member who deletes their login erases that identity's credentials, sessions, contact details, consent records, and notification settings; the shared kitchen remains for the owner and other members. A household owner must remove other member logins before deleting the household. Owner deletion cancels any active subscription and permanently erases the owner identity and all shared rules, pantry, ratings, tweaks, saved recipes, plans, and history from live systems.
Deleted data ages out of private disaster-recovery backups within 90 days. R2 backup objects are encrypted at rest by Cloudflare and exist only for whole-service disaster recovery, not to restore individual deleted accounts. Login sessions expire after 30 days. Expired one-time authentication records and short-lived operational records are pruned nightly. Stripe retains payment transaction records as required for tax and accounting law.
Passwords are stored as salted PBKDF2 hashes, sessions use Secure HttpOnly cookies, state changes require same-origin and anti-forgery checks, password-reset links are single-use, and the administrator login requires an emailed second factor. All traffic is HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data like we'd want ours treated.
OurKitchen is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
