Honey Garlic Chicken & Broccoli
25 minOne panSweet-savory
Sticky honey-garlic chicken and broccoli over rice.
Ingredients
Chicken breast1 lb
Broccoli1 head
Garlic3 cloves
White rice1 cup
Honey3 tbsp
Soy sauce3 tbsp
Cornstarch1 tsp
Steps
- Start the rice first — 1 cup rice, 2 cups water, and a pinch of salt, covered on low 15 minutes; the chicken and sauce fit inside its cook time.
- Whisk the sauce: 3 tbsp honey, 3 tbsp soy sauce, the minced garlic, 1 tsp cornstarch, and 2 tbsp water.
- Pat the chicken dry, cut it into ¾-inch pieces, and season with pepper — go light on salt, since the soy covers it.
- Sear the chicken in a hot nonstick skillet over medium-high, 6–7 minutes, until golden and no longer pink in the center.
- Add the broccoli florets with 2 tbsp water, cover, and steam 2–3 minutes until bright green and crisp-tender.
- Re-whisk the sauce and pour it in; simmer 2–3 minutes until glossy and thickened — cornstarch needs a brief bubble to thicken.
- Serve over the rice, spooning extra glaze on top.
